The Draft Division has players of all ages and abilities who want a competetive game and is a place to learn and play with new players. Some of Draft Division players have over 10 years of experience while some are of high school age. This year, the Draft Division will be implementing a rule requiring at least 1 woman on the field at all times (providing each team has 1-3 available) to encourage women players to sign up and to attend as many games as possible. We are also always looking for new leadership in our league. If you are interested in being a captain of a Draft team please contact Mike Buriani, our Draft Coordinator.
A Division players are recruited by A Division captains or join together with other experienced players to form teams with their friends or with others they meet at pickup games. These games are a more intense physically and tactically and demand a certain experience level.
Each division plays 1 or 2 games a week and you can play in both if you have that much energy and time!
To join the league, you need to register on line and pay your $40 dues by mail along with a signed copy of the UPA's standard Hold Harmless form. This form will be available to print out during registration. If you're under 18, your Hold Harmless must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. You will not be able to play in the league until Treasurer Roger Grillo has received your check and Hold Harmless form.
Opportunities to play: Preseason pickup games are played Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning in April. New Brunswick has a very competitive Saturday game and Yardley PA has a sporadic Sunday game that is a wee more mellow. See Directions & Off-Season Games on our web site menu to find out how to get there.
The 2003 season begins Monday, May 12th for Draft Division and Wednesday the 14th for A Division. Playoffs are played in early August with championships the 2nd week of August. (Don’t take a vacation then if you plan to be champs!)
We are committed to promoting the sport of Ultimate in the schools and encourage high school and college players to play with us during their summers here at Mercer. The minimum age is 16 but know that, regardless of your age, we welcome you and that you will improve your game here.
